Writers Night

Writers Night is temporarily on hold whilst we focus on preparing to tour Ophelia.

Writers Night began online over lockdown and later became an in person event in Cumbria, providing a safe, nurturing space for writers to meet, socialise, support each other and write! Previous Cumbrian guest writers have included Daneka Etchells, Nina Berry and our Hannah Roze-Lewis.

The Comedy Twofer

Alongside our collaborator, Competent Productions, we ran comedy events including The Comedy Twofer from 2018-2022.

The Comedy Twofer ran as a regular two-act show, one half stand-up and one half comedy improvisation, with a focus on promoting female and LGBTQ+ comedians. Our projects included an improvised Christmas Carol, Star Wars, and Cinderella pantomime. The night was hosted by Dan (Sean Henry) of Competent Productions and Han (Hannah Roze-Lewis) of The Moonlighters Collective and ran across various venues in Liverpool, transferring online during the pandemic. The event also raised money for Mermaids UK, Black Minds Matter, and James Place UK.

The Shakespeare Solstice

In the summer of 2020 we teamed up with Sort Sol theatre company to produce an online celebration of Shakespeare's work, performed over Zoom, as a fundraiser for Shakespeare's Globe, Sort Sol and ourselves.

The night was hosted by our artistic director Hannah Roze-Lewis and actor Elissa Cooper, both of whom were due to perform in the Sam Wanamaker Festival at the Globe before the event was cancelled due to Covid-19. Performances included live sonnets, filmed adaptations of scenes, songs, and comedic retellings.

PRIDE

Our past events around Pride month have helped fundraise for Mermaids UK and Colours Youth Network as well as promote the work of brilliant LGBTQ+ artists.

In 2021, we held our first New Writing Scratch Night, producing two early-draft short plays, 'Be Back Soon' by Eva Gaynor-Smith and 'My Jewish Space Laser' by Ethan Olswang.
