PRIDE

As two LGBTQ women running a theatre company, Pride is super important to us. We want to elevate LGBTQ+ voices and create safe spaces, because - especially coming from Cumbria where there is a real lack of representation - we understand how vital safe spaces are. Recently, as part of Ophelia, we visited PinC (Pride in North Cumbria Youth group) which felt really important to us.

As a small theatre company we don't always have the means to run an event during Pride month, but we always support other companies in promoting theirs. In 2020 we celebrated LGBTQ+ creatives through an Instagram IGTV showcase, raising money for Mermaids UK, who Amy has worked with in the past. Mermaids UK support young transgender and genderdiverse people. We also raised money for Colours Youth Network who support young Black and POC LGBTQ+ people.

In 2021 we produced 'A New Writing Scratch Night', raising money for Mermaids UK. We supported two emerging LGBTQ+ writers to tell the stories they wanted to tell. We provided dramaturgical support, cast four brilliant actors, and directed and produced the pieces over Zoom.
