Dear Beryl  is an original two-woman dark comedy written by Hannah Roze-Lewis and created with Amy Allenby. The play explores poverty, technology, and media.

Dear Beryl began life at Theatre by the Lake's first ever professional scratch night, following which it was developed at Command Fringe Festival, adapting to socially distanced online filming.

In 2021 we received Arts Council funding and financial support from LIPA’s Show Fund to R&D Dear Beryl. We were also supported by Theatre by the Lake, Elinor Randle of Tmesis Theatre, director Anna Ryder (RSC & Newcastle's Live Theatre), and dramaturgically by Box of Tricks. Three live in-person and live-streamed R&D showings of the play were hosted by The Portland Works Makerspace, Sheffield, from the 15th-17th July 2021, as part of their opening season.

"Quite haunting the way it reflected on social media now and what it can become."

In a world where many of us have become reliant on technology to survive, what do you do when it is no longer there?

And in the constant battle to overcome the poverty trap, what is the price of life?
